Tuesday’s Life-Savor

Rain falling

We have rain after a long, dry summer where the lawn mower only blew up dirt like a brown swirling dust bowl and leaves on ancient trees curled into themselves and died in August. This drought is the subject of every conversation.

Today, I hear the sound of slow, steady rain and know it is reaching deep down in the earth, and nourishing everything.

I am thankful, not only for the soothing sound of rain and all that goes with it (curling up indoors, smelling the intoxicating first splattering drops) but I am so thankful for its rescue.
